Three topics

Topic #1

Senator Chuck Schumer—Everyone needs to watch Schumer’s address to the Senate this past Wednesday on the rise in antisemitism. Get it up on the largest screen in your home and make sure that your (age appropriate) children are with you. He covers antisemitism’s long history and major uptick since October 7. He not only talks about Israel’s right to exist, but her need to exist. He talks about the Holocaust, and he talks about terrorism. He talks about the radicalization of the uninformed. He gives many examples of what defines antisemitism and outlines the “double standard.” This is a speech that needed to be made and as Senate Majority Leader and highest-ranking official ever in the United States, he is the one who had to deliver it. Yasher koach Senator and thank you!

Topic #2

Solidarity trip to Israel—Jewish Federations of North America is running some quick, two-day fly-ins to Israel this month and next, if anyone is interested. Our Federation is looking at a little longer trip to do a little volunteer work and meet up with our Eshkol friends who have been displaced around the country. We’re looking at late January or early February. Working on this trip will be my next project after wrapping up Chanukah on Jay.

Topic #3

Chanukah on Jay—Back by popular demand and bigger and better than ever! After receiving your feedback, we have a few modifications this year: shorter overall program, roomier tents, food truck with hot kosher food for purchase (in addition to free sampling as in prior years), and a special finale by this year’s entertainment replacing the gelt drop. This program unites our entire Jewish community. Sunday, December 10, 2:30–4:00 p.m. Looking forward to seeing you there.
