Midrash isn't simply a mechanical interpretation of verses, nor is it a fanciful invention of Rabbinic ideas. Instead, it serves as a bridge between the elements of a text and an idea that needs to be expressed. In essence, midrash reads the Torah much like someone reading a heartfelt love letter addressed to them.
We will explore how to pay close attention to every detail, even seemingly insignificant ones, and approach the text with the anticipation of finding emotional and cultural connections that go beyond the words on the page.
