Local Allocations

Albany Jewish Community Center: Funding goes to support the following programs and initiatives: Raymond & Ruth D. Laven Early Childhood Center, Massry Senior Center, Camp Shalom, JCC Maccabi Games, school-age children’s programing, Adult and Family programming, and technology enhancements for seniors.

Bethlehem Chabad: Funding supports the weekly Kids Club Hebrew School, and Senior Connections: holiday kits, recuperation meals, monthly social and educational programming.

B'Yachad Collaborative Religious School: Funding helps support this collaborative community religious school partnership program of Congregation Ohav Shalom, and B’nai Sholom, open to the entire Jewish community.

Camp Givah: Funding provides need-based financial assistance for families and supports children with special learning needs.

Camperships & Scholarships: Each year, Jewish Federation provides need-based financial assistance for families for overnight summer camp and Israel-travel experiences. Jewish Federation also has several academic scholarships available for college and graduate-school students.

Capital District Board of Rabbis & Cantors: Funding helps support the community-wide Introduction to Judaism Educational Series, providing a solid Jewish knowledge base for local participants regardless of denomination.

The Chatham Synagogue: Funding supported a community hands-on scribal arts program, with Soferet, Julie Seltzer.

Clifton Park Chabad Jewish Center: Funding supports Jewish enrichment programming through Shabbat dinners, holiday events, Jewish Women’s Circle, as well as assistance for the Chabad Hebrew School for students with special needs.

Congregation Agudat Achim Religious School: Funding supports students with special needs with resources and support for meaningful learning experiences and preparations for B'nai Mitzvah.

Congregation Berith Sholom | Troy Jewish Community Religious School: Funding helps provide quality Jewish education to children and families in Rensselaer County and beyond, regardless of synagogue affiliation and family income. The school fosters an understanding of cultural heritage, comprehensive Hebrew instruction, and nurtures students’ love of Judaism and Israel.

Congregation Beth Emeth | Einhorn Center for Jewish Education: Funding helps provide one-on-one Hebrew language support, assistance in the classrooms, and an inclusion coordinator for children with special learning needs.

Congregation Beth Shalom: Funding supports the Holocaust Torah program, allowing them to open this program to the public with a celebratory kiddish brunch after services.

Congregation Anshe Emeth: Funding supports special community programming including a Passover seder, a Holocaust remembrance celebration, and a summer social.

Congregation Gates of Heaven Religious School: Funding supports special-needs students with resources and support for meaningful learning experiences and preparations for B'nai Mitzvah.

Congregation Ohav Shalom: Funding helps support a senior with developmental disabilities with transportation to attend Shabbat morning services, Jewish holidays, and the Seder for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities prior to Passover.

Congregation Shaara Tfille, Saratoga: Funding helps provide an affordable contemporary kosher seder during Passover to individuals who would otherwise be unable to prepare one, are new to the area, or have family/friends who live too far away. Funding also helps provide educational and entertainment activities, programs, and events that encapsulate and enhance Jewish culture, history, and traditions.

Congregation Shaaray Tefila, Glens Falls: Funding helps support a communal Passover seder, an experience for all ages, including those who might not be willing or able to create one at home.

Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors Jewish Care Program: Funding helps provide residents with kosher meals under the supervision of the Capital District Vaad Ha’Kashrut; a kosher cafeteria for staff, visitors, and the community. Funding also supports a Jewish chaplain who is responsible for religious counseling and coordinating Jewishly-oriented programming. In addition, the Jewish chaplain provides components of palliative and end-of-life care and, if requested by families, funeral services.

Families In Need Of Assistance, Inc.: Funding supports outreach and assistance expansion to mainly unaffiliated Jews.

Havurah Vatik: Funding helps provide cultural and arts programming, healthful lunches, and socialization for Jewish seniors in the greater Saratoga area.

Hebrew Academy of the Capital District: Funding helps provide tuition assistance for families for this community K-8 Jewish day school.

Holocaust Survivors & Friends Education Center: Funding helps provide anti-prejudice education through its Lectures by Survivors & Witnesses program in schools throughout a 13-county area, teacher-training workshops, and community programs including the Kristallnacht Interfaith Commemoration.

Jewish Family Services | Occupational Therapy: Funding helps provide traditional and non-traditional therapy through person-centered care, aiming to improve seniors’ emotional well-being, re-realize their passions, and move away from depression.

Jewish Family Services | Chaplaincy: Provides spiritual support to Jewish seniors living in long-term care facilities in the Capital Region.

Jewish Family Services | Albany Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC): Funding helps provide a range of programs and services to support seniors to age healthfully in their own homes.

Jewish Family Services | Project 5: Funding provides an average of 150 low-cost transportation services a month to older Jewish adults in the Capital Region. The program offers supportive, familiar drivers who can identify issues of concern, including physical and mental health, wellness, and food insecurity.

Jewish Family Services | Senior Resource Network: Funding provides information and referrals to seniors and their families to support long-term-care planning.

Jewish Family Services | Outreach Support: Funding helps support a partnership between JFS and local rabbis, synagogues, Jewish communal organizations, and Jewish Day Schools to enhance accessibility of counseling and social services to the Jewish Community.

Knesseth Israel Synagogue: Funding helps support a community Shabbat dinner, BBQ and lunch programs, and a Chanukah banquet.

Maimonides Hebrew Day School: Funding helps provide tuition assistance for families for this Jewish day school, the Better Together/Better 2 Serve intergenerational program.

Mifgash Jewish Community High School: Funding goes to help with outreach and recruitment for students to strengthen their Jewish identity and knowledge, while also promoting bonds with Israel and their community. Funding also goes to support students with special learning needs.

RPI-Sage Hillel: Funding helps provide programming to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Saratoga Jewish Cultural Festival: Funding supports a series of family-oriented, fun-filled events intended to foster community, enhance Jewish identity, and raise awareness of Jewish cultural arts.

Schenectady B'nai B'rith | Holocaust Essay Contest: Funding supports this endeavor to promote high school and middle school student awareness of the Holocaust, the ongoing occurrence of genocide and war crimes, and the need to stop them now and prevent them from occurring in the future.

Shabbos House: Funding helps provide a welcoming home away from home for Jewish students at UAlbany with student-friendly synagogue services, Sabbath and holiday dinners, programs, educational and cultural opportunities, as well as counseling and emotional support.

Schenectady Jewish Community Center: Funding goes to support the following programs that welcome the diverse populations of Schenectady, Albany, and Saratoga counties; Early Childhood educational programming, Celebration Series, Camperships, Art Exhibitions, Jewish cooking, Shlichim, Jewish Film Festival, and senior technology enhancements and programming.

Skidmore College, Office of Jewish Student Life: Funding helps provide a consistent level of rich programming and events for students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community.

Temple Beth El, Glens Falls | Temple-Synagogue Religious School: Funding helps provide a quality Jewish educational program for the children of families affiliated with Temple Beth El and Congregation Shaaray Tefila.

Temple Beth El, Troy: Funding helps support The Jew Chew Review learning series. This program focuses on Judaism and its history and impact around the world, and includes food from around the world, and is open to the wider community.

Temple Israel, Catskill: Funding helps support community programming and outreach, and assistance with L’ HADLIK Hebrew School tuition.

Temple Sinai: Funding helps support the Religious School Scholarship Program, community seders, the community Purim Carnival, youth group programs, and Jewish Community Arts programming.

UAlbany Hillel: Funding helps provide programming to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Vaad Hakashruth of the Capital District: Supports kosher supervision at Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors.
