The Jewish Agency for Israel:

Aliyah continues even during the Corona pandemic

Aliyah continues even during the Corona pandemic and last week, on Yom Yerushalayim, Jewish Agency for Israel was thrilled to welcome 119 Ethiopian Olim who arrived to Israel. They were greeted at the Ben Gurion Airport by Jewish Agency chairman, Isaac Herzog, and the new Minister of Aliyah and Integration, Pnina Tamano-Shata, who is herself an Ethiopian immigrant. Enjoy the video clip above of their arrival at the airport with English subtitles.

Despite all the challenges of bringing Olim during Corona, the Jewish Agency ensured that the new Ethiopian immigrants had all they needed upon their arrival to Israel and now, during their two weeks of isolation, in a secluded hostel in northern Israel. They are well cared for and we distributed activity packages to Olim children quarantining at the hostel and dedicated Jewish Agency staff explained all the Ministry of Health guidelines to the new Olim in Amharic. Following the 14 days of quarantine, the new immigrants will move to their new homes in one of the Jewish Agency's 17 Jewish Agency Absorption Centers.
